A GM can waive that player with the intention of placing him in their active minor leagues if he clears waivers.
He must go 24 hours unclaimed by another team. After that point, the GM can place him in their minor leagues carrying his full salary.
If a player is waived and then claimed by a team, the team that initially waived the player is freed of his entire salary, as the salary is transferred to the team that claimed him.
Six Important points
* Any player that is on a 1 year deal may not be bought out, but only waived.
* Any player over the league stated plateau must be waived 1st. They cannot just be demoted, regardless of the circumstances.
* A minor leaguer that is called up and assigned a salary can be demoted at any time as long as the player is under the league plateaus at the time of the waiving(150/50). ..but once a salary is assigned, you must carry that salary.
* A waiver claim may not be rescinded.
* A team that buys out a player, cannot bid on that player in FA in the current season that they bought that player out.
* When making any roster changes/additions, open roster spots must be available prior to any addition/waiving to minors, etc. Conditional transactions can be added to the transaction, but must be posted within the same thread as the transaction itself OR as a 2nd post explaining exactly what you would like the Commissioner's Office to do.
Options on claiming a waived player
a) If a GM claims a waived player within the 24 hours and they have the highest waiver priority (determined by the random generator)
they claim that player at his current salary and contract.
b) If a GM claims a player and wishes to demote him after they have obtained his rights, the GM must again waive him, and get him past the 24 hrs to be able to demote him to the minors. There is no skipping of steps.
Every player that is over the league stated plateus must be waived 1st.
Any player that is over the plateau and sent down to the minors by his MLB club may be demoted in EGDL without passing through waivers*
