The EGDL MLB Player Auction is a major league player draft in the form of a private auction. It will be conducted on Monday, April 25th 2011. Each team must acquire 27 players at a total cost of 100M or less. Teams are not required to spend the maximum. Teams are not permitted to go over the 100M salary cap at any time, for any reason. As stated, this auction will be private. A FA Auction account will be created and only the Comissioner's Office will have access to this account.
The Commissioner will post players to be bid on every Monday by 9:00 AM EST. At that time you will be able to send your bids on said player(s), within one private PM to the FA account. The deadline for making your actual bid will be Thursday night at Midnight. You will only be allowed ONE bid per player, maximum.
If you are late sending your bids and do not PM the FA Auction account with your bids by Midnight on Thursday, your bids will be void by default.
If you go over the cap in sent bids, all of your bids for that bidding period will become automatically void.
In order for teams to fill their entire 27 man roster (which is a rule), and not let a GM get into the situation where they are unable to fill their roster....it's imperative that each GM factor in at least 500,000 for each open spot on their roster..when sending their bids.
Failure to do so (ie. not abiding by this 500k ration) will result in an invalid bid. This invalidating of the bid will ONLY affect the bid that puts them under (as well as all other subsequent bids thereafter).
The correct way to post a bid is as follows,....
Subject line of PM should include- What week we are bidding in and the team name
Message should include- Player Name and Contract Offer (Years and Total value)
AAS:
Years Broken Down:
Example: The St Louis Browns offer George Sisler a 3 year 21 mil contract
AAS: 7 mil
09: 7 mil
10: 7 mil
11: 7 mil
Just like in in-season FA, the minimum length you can sign a player to is 1 year. The maximum length that you are able to sign a player to is 5 years. Also keep in mind that no any (1) year of a contract may exceed 30% +/- the average annual salary of your total bid.
If there is a tie in AAS, then the total value of the contract will decide the winner. If two teams bid exactly the same, then The first bid received will win the player.
