Three of the most common ways to begin negotiating a trade with another team are as follows: (1) Go to the board to the section entitled “Trade Block”. In this section, you will post the players you wish to trade and/or what types of players you are interested in trading for; Do not post offers to the trade block (2) Each general manager has provided an email on the contact information thread; (3) AIM and/or YIM- This is the best method of communication for “EGDL” and its GMs.
Trades in EGDL can involve major league players, prospects ("active" minor leaguers) cash, tags of all sorts, and competition picks. However, only the current seasons draft picks, plus one season in the future can be traded at any time. Future considerations or a player to be named later is not valid compensation in any trade. Do not post offers on another team's trade block. I would also prefer you not to discuss trades in the chat box at the bottom of the forum please.
Cash Trading:
As noted above, cash is allowed to be traded in here with certain restrictions. Teams may only trade UP TO 6M of their permanent cap for the duration of that season. You may trade 6M of your permanent cap from the following season as well if a team so chooses. No cash beyond the next season may be traded in ANY DEAL. Any cash you receive is not to exceed 6M. The Commissioner's Office will be keeping track of this closely, so be sure you are doing the same.
Competition Picks and their Trading Abilities:
Competition picks in EGDL will be sandwich picks between the 1st and 2nd rounds of the EGDL Amateur Draft which will take place following the 2012 season. These will be awarded on a team-by-team basis to those who lose players via RFA. Any player signed in RFA to an AAS of 7M or more and the original team chooses to not match the restricted bid, the team who lost the player AND had his team pitch the EGDL minimum of 1450 IP shall receive a competition pick. These will not come into play at the earliest until 2013.
Any trade negotiations that end in an agreement must be posted to the board under the section entitled “Trades”. All terms of the trade must be listed here as well. All parties involved in the trade must post their confirmation within the trade thread for that trade to be considered valid. Failure to list all terms of the trade may result in veto.
At this point, there will be a 24 hour window where other GMs may express their complaints to the Commissioner’s office. If the Commissioners office receives more than one complaint- TCM will review the trade and either approve or reject the trade within 24 hours.
In the event that an owner decides to make a trade and then resign from the league before that trade is officially approved, then the trade will remain pending until the newly assigned owner has accepted the trade.
