As stated previously, each owner will have to post a Minor League Roster list.
When trading for minor leaguers, all minor leaguers on teams minor league lists can be traded for.
All Minor League eligible players that are not on your 27 man Major League roster do not count toward accumulating stats, and are forever protected.
In the event that Team A places a major league player onto waivers and that player clears waivers, then he can be re-assigned onto Team A minor league roster. These major league players who have salaries in your minor league system will count against your team salary cap.
Note: Players who are Minor League Eligible at the beginning of each season retain their Minor League eligibility even if they reach the 150ab/50 ip in Majors during that season. However, they must be called up to the Major League Roster prior to the next season's Opening Day and be assigned the initial base major league salary or else they will be deemed a Free Agent on Opening Day.
No players that have already reached their career plateau of 150/50 at the beginning of the season are allowed in your Minor League System. This rule does not apply to players who previously cleared waivers and were demoted to MILB. Players who are over the plateau but sent to the minor leagues by their respective MLB franchise may be demoted in EGDL without passing through waivers*
Minor leaguers that are on the Minor League Rosters (and who weren't bid on in FA) who get called up will be assigned a base salary of 300,000 for 4 years .
In the event that a team decides to send a minor league eligible player back down to their minor league roster after he has been called up, he shall still be subject to the terms of the above contract stated.
* Minor League salaries for these circumstances do count against your salary cap*
Each June, Major League Baseball holds it's Amateur Draft. After our Inaugural EGDL 2012 season, we will be selecting players in this draft via a 5 round optional EGDL Amatuer Draft. By optional, we mean that if you feel your MILB is loaded and wish not to participate, then you do not have to. This means either you participate fully in the draft or you do not draft any new studs at all. There is no 3 rounds or 2 rounds you may draft. I suggest you dump 5 minor leaguers that are fringe-average prospects and partake in each draft class in this esteemed league.
Amateur Draft Lottery
Since this league promotes competition and is strictly against tanking/sand bagging, the EGDL Amateur Draft order will be randomized for the first 5 picks using the order of finish of the bottom five teams from the year before. While this lottery will be weighted in favor of the last place team, it does not ensure that the last place team will get the first pick. This draft order will be a weighted randomized order for the first five picks using the website
www.draftpicklottery.com.
The weighted lottery will contain 100 chances (balls). The 5 teams competing in the lottery will each be given a number of chances (balls) based on their standing.
Team that finished last- 25 balls
Team that finished 13th- 20 balls
Team that finished 12th- 15 balls
Team that finished 11th- 12 balls
Team that finished 10th- 10 balls
All teams not finishing within the Lottery will be picking in reverse order of previous regular season finish.
This draft will begin at a later specified time
Each team will be given a maximum of 8 hours per pick within the Draft selection times. The Draft timer will begin each day at 9 A.M. EST and be suspended each night at 12 A.M. EST. Citing the various time zone differences, teams may still make selections outside of these times, however the Draft timer will not be on. If you fail to make your pick within the 8 hour timed Draft selection time span, your pick will be skipped. You will then be able to make your skipped pick at any time thereafter. If your next selection comes up and you haven't made your make-up pick(s) from your last skipping, then you will be skipped automatically and may select whenever you log back on.
The length of the draft will be five rounds. Teams will only be able to draft the open roster spots in their respective MILB system.
Only players that were selected in the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft will be available to be selected, provided they sign prior to the August 15th signing deadline.
Foreign players will not be draftable, as they will be part of the MLB FA auction. At no time during this MILB Draft may a team go over the 40 man MILB roster.
Only amatuers that sign with MLB ballclubs are eligible to be drafted. Meaning, if a prospect is taken in the June Amateur draft by an MLB club but decides to decline and go back to school- then he is not eligible to be drafted.
In-Season prospect additions:Teams will be able to add prospects throughout the regular season. Each team must do their own research on prospects not owned in someone's EGDL farm system. The Commissioner's Office will not give its league members help in this regard. You may send your prospect transactions in
1 PM per team please to the Private Prospect Account. This will be a private account just like the FA Bid Account.
Just like Free Agency, teams may send in private messages to the FA Prospect Account at any time. The posting time for prospects will be Sunday morning.
The Commissioner's Office will be in charge of this prospect account and will only be opened by Sunday Morning. All prospect claims will be posted by noon EST.
All MLB-signed players who have prospect status (less than 150ab/50ip career MLB) not already owned by an EGDL team at the time of your claims will be available.
In the case of a situation arising where 2 or more teams try to claim the same prospect in the same claiming period, the team with the lowest place in the standings will be awarded the prospect.
The prospect claims will only be claims..not bids. Prospects will not carry a monetary value in EGDL until they are promoted to the EGDL Active Roster.
Just like any other addition, you must have room on your MILB roster to add a prospect. You will be allowed to add an additional conditional transaction to your prospect claim message (in terms of dropping another player from your MILB roster if you win the claim).
If you have a full MILB roster and fail to add a conditional drop in your prospect claim message, your claim will be void and deleted.
There will be no limit of prospect transactions during the season.
Prospect transactions will only be done from the beginning of the EGDL season until the EGDL trade deadline. Any prospect claim sent in after the trade deadline will be void and deleted.
