When you decide there is a player you wish to add to your 67-man roster from free agency, you will need to sign that player to a contract.
We will be using a private bidding system.
For in-season free agency, we will have 2 bidding periods throughout the week.
Period A: Opens Monday @ 9AM EST and ends Wednesday @ 9AM EST.
Period B: Opens Friday @ 9AM EST and ends Sunday @ 9AM EST.
Posting of FA bids will be on Wednesday and Sunday, respectively.
GM's may send in bids to the FA Auction Account for a free agent at any/all times. The deadlines are only relative to GMs in terms of what day the player will be awarded.
The rules by which a player is awarded to a team will remain the same as our Auction; Highest AAS is the determining factor in bids. If two bids are received with the same AAS, then total contract value will be the tiebreaker. If AAS and total contract value are the same, then first bid received will be the deciding factor. All bids must clearly state the AAS, breakdown and total contract value of the bid. Failure to list all 3 of these items within your bid will automatically void the bid.
Once a player is awarded, it will be posted by one of the Commissioner's so that the rest of the league is aware that player is no longer available- and at that time may be able to be added to the awarded teams' roster on CBS. Teams are not required to post a player in order to be bid on. Each team is expected to constantly improve their team everyday.
The league’s minimum salary requirement is $500,000 per year. The longest you may sign a player to contract at the league minimum is two years. The longest you can sign a player to a contract with an average annual salary (AAS) of $501,000 to $750,000 is three years. The longest you can sign a player to a contract with an AAS of $751,000 or more is 5 years.
The minimum length you can sign a player to is 1 year. The max length that you are able to sign a player to is 5 years.
We will not be implementing club options, mutual options, team options, or any other kind of contract option a team has for player contracts..
Back-loading/Front-loading contracts
This rule was created to prevent front/back loading of contracts. Its called the 30% rule. It means that when bidding on a Free Agent, any one season of salary cannot be less/more than 30%+/- of the contracts annual average of salary (AAS).
If a players annual average salary is $5,000,000 per season, the lowest any 1 season can be is $3,500,000. The highest any 1 season can be is $6,500,000
Here is the formula:
(AAS) x 30% (0.30)= y
(AAS) - y = Lowest
(AAS) + y = Highest
Therefore:
5,000,000(AAS) x .30 (30%) = 1,500,000
5,000,000 (AAS)- 1,500,000 = 3,500,000 (lowest)
5,000,000 (AAS)+ 1,500,000= 6,500,000 (highest)
Once a contract is finalized, it cannot be reworked or revoked. In essence, it is final. You are responsible for paying that contract until such time as the player is traded or dropped to free agency.
In the event a team does not submit a contract for a won player, the commisioners office will set the terms of the contract. These terms will be 1 year @ the AAS offered by the winning team.
At no time may a team go over the salary cap. In the event a GM bids on a player without the necessary cap room, the bid will automatically be declared invalid by default.
